PRIVATE LESSONS/GROUP WORKSHOPS Bryan Vargas is currently accepting private guitar students. Bryan holds a Bachelor Of Music from New York University. While at NYU he was awarded a Martin Luther King Sholarship and was inducted in Phi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society. He studied performance and composition with notable musicians like Jim McNeely, Bruce Arnold, Chris Rosenberg, Mike Richmond, and many more. In 1997, Bryan graduated Magna Cum Laude. Since college, Bryan has performed with some of New York's best musicians including: Arturo O'Farrill, Glenn Branca, Felix Sanabria & Los Afortunados, Bat Boy The Musical, Heavy Merge, King Chango, Topaz & many more. He is the musical director for Yerba Buena and was featured in the 2001 documentary RAICES with Los Instantaneos. He leads his own group, Ya Esta and was a founding member of the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. Bryan is currently on faculty at the Queens Gateway School & the Highbridge Voices Program in the Bronx. He also frequently teaches with SEA (the Society of the Educational Arts). Having given private lessons since he was in High School, Bryan is experienced in teaching students of all ages. Current Private Instruction rates: At Bryan's Ft. Greene Brooklyn Studio: $40/hr At your home or elsewhere: $60/hr For 1/2 hr lessons (recommended for younger students), divide current rates in half.
